Hey! I just wanted to take a second and
introduce myself, my name is Matt Lee, and I am 25 years old, married to
my stunning wife Jaymi, who’s 23 (you may know her as Jaymi Carlson). We
have been married for 1 year and 9 months; live in Arlington and do not
have any children. But before I go any further let me go back and tell
you a little about my background.
I claim my home town as
Snohomish, although I had an Everett address. I grew up there in a large
family, with my Mom and Dad, Margo and Palmer Lee and my four brothers,
Kris, Aaron, Micah, and Jordan. So, it was in this environment where I
learned to be competitive, which birthed my love for sports. I have been
involved in sports my whole life, which includes four years of playing
football for Snohomish High School. I also played basketball, and
soccer growing up. After graduation I coached freshmen football at
Snohomish for six years.
Here is a quick glimpse of my journey
with Christ, and my life in ministry. The place where Christ became
first in my life was in the summer of ‘92 at a Young Life Camp called
Breakaway Lodge in Oregon. It is from that time on that I began to
develop my relationship with Christ by getting involved with a small
Bible study. I continued in Young Life through my high school years, and
when I was a junior in high school I served at a placed called Malibu,
and it was there that I heard my call from God to be in full-time
ministry. I have been faithful to that call ever since, by getting
involved in Young Life after I graduated from high school in ‘98. You
may be asking at this point what took you so long to get through school.
Well, while I got my Associate of Arts degree from Everett Community
College I was on staff part time with Young Life, as well as coaching
football. I did my schooling (book knowledge) on and off while I
developed ministry skills (practical knowledge). While I took a short
break from ministry and coaching to finish school I am now back in
Redmond as an intern for Youth for Christ. I am currently a senior at
Northwest University (majoring in Youth Ministry), where I will graduate
in May.
I cannot begin to tell you how excited
Jaymi and I are about coming to be a part of the Camano Chapel family,
and befriend the 4-8th grade youth and parents. I can stand
here today and say, with confidence, that it is God orchestrated our new
found friendship with Camano Chapel. I will leave you with the prayer
of Elisha in 2 Kings 6, which is my prayer for the Stanwood-Camano
community; “Lord I pray that You would open the eyes of their hearts
that they may see You, and know that You are ever-present in their
lives.
